    Quest Diagnostics, the Madison, N.J.-based provider of clinical laboratory services, and Surescripts, of Alexandria, Va. and St. Paul, Minn., which operates the country’s largest electronic prescribing network, will collaborate on an integrated service meant to make lab and pharmacy data more easily accessible to doctors and clinicians.

    WebMD Health Corp. announced Tuesday the launch of WebMD Health Exchange, a new health social networking platform.

    The new platform will enable consumers to connect with health experts and other WebMD members to exchange  experiences, discuss personal challenges, and receive direct answers and support, according to WebMD.

  • Military Health System develops EHR for White House

    The Military Health System has set up a version of its AHLTA electronic health record system for use in the White House.

    MHS chief information officer Charles Campbell talked about the initiative at the recent Health Information and Management Systems Society's annual conference in Atlanta.

    The system, which was set up in just two months, is based on AHLTA Theater, the Defense department's electronic health records system designed for rugged uses in war zones.

  • Survey shows nurses spend most of their time on paperwork

    A new survey of hospital nurses found that they estimate spending one quarter of their 12-hour shift on indirect patient care, with paperwork taking up much of the rest of their time.
